Saint-Merd depended on the Order of Malta, represented by the Grand Priory of Auvergne, Commander of Bellechassagne. The presbytery, which dates back to the 17th century, is particularly characteristic of the rural architecture of the Millevaches plateau, with its local granite walls and thatched gable roofs. The west gable retains three carved stone projections (reused). A characteristic walled garden with stone well completes the property.
