The Chaumettes dam is located between the communes of Saint-Victour and Roche le Peyroux. The dam holds back the waters of the Diège, a tributary of the Dordogne.
Built between 1925 and 1927, the structure is a 40-meter-high, 90-meter-long concrete arch dam, with a width ranging from 4 meters at the top to 27 meters at the base. It is used to generate hydroelectricity. Supplied by a penstock, the Val Beneyte power plant is located on the right bank of the Dordogne, at the level of the Marèges dam reservoir, one kilometer downstream of the Saint-Nazaire site.
