Built in the 12th century on the site of an earlier monastery, and converted into a cathedral in 1317, it took almost 2 centuries to complete. The original Romanesque plan was to be evaluated over the centuries, giving way to a light, airy and slender Gothic style, as evidenced by the 73-metre high bell tower, making it the tallest in the Limousin region.
