Eglise Saint-Jean-Baptiste-de-Mortemart

in Saint-felix-de-reillac-et-mortemart
  • 13th century. The church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste-de-Mortemart is built on a feudal mound, fortified and dates from the 13th century
It has a Latin cross plan with side chapels. It has two particularities: its bell-tower and its broken keep. Mortemart was a former commandery occupied by soldier monks of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem and also a stopover on the road to Santiago de Compostela.
