On February 16, 1944, the Papeterie mill was home to around 50 young STO draft dodgers. 34 of them were executed by a German platoon, 13 were deported (7 escaped), and 3 survived the attack. All these young men were waiting to form the Bataillon Violette, a battalion which was formed in June 1944.
The Moulin is now a place of remembrance, where an exhibition recounting the events is presented to the public every summer.
