    Preventive conservation consists first of all in stopping alterations that are harmful to the object. Then come the curative restoration operations: consolidation, cleaning, re-fixing of the pictorial layer, levelling of polychromy, retouching, insecticide and fungicide treatments, filling... The restorer's intervention must be as minimal as possible and never attempt to transform it, falsify it or make it look like a new object.
