This concentration of deposits, located halfway between the Lascaux caves and Les Eyzies-de-Tayac, is one of the most largest in the world. In 2012, the site of Castel-Merle came into the spotlight when American researchers announced that they were able to precisely date an engraved stone block to 37,000 years before the present day.
