Alfred Chal, born in 1905 in? In 1931, he married Germaine Vernerie, from a family of wine merchants in Saint-Sulpice-les-Bois. It was undoubtedly under their influence that, although a be?nist by training, he became an important ne?gociant. With Marcel Reynal, he organized the profession by creating a union in 1945, the Syndicat des négociants voyageurs en vins de la Haute-Corrèze, which he chaired for many years. He also owned the Rochebrune vineyard in the Sables Saint-Emilion appellation. The house he had built in the 1960s in the Panazol district of Meymac, testifies to the continuity of the negociant builders.
