Description

Thomas Chal, born on October 27, 1855 in the village of Peyssergue in Saint-Angel, married Marie Dedenis (1864-1922) in Meymac on June 19, 1883. He began traveling before 1880 on behalf of the Tounissoux brothers, P Gény and J Chal, owners of vineyards in Talence, probably represented by his first cousin Jean Chal. In 1894, he bought a house in the Lachenal district, formerly owned by the Lachaud-Delort notaries. After Thomas Chal's death at the turn of the century, his widow, Marie Dedenis, ensured the continuity of his business. She was not only a wife, but also the sister of merchants. Her brothers, Charles and Jean Dedenis, were at the origin of two important wine merchant families.
