25. Maison Borie ("d'en bas"), la Prairie

François Borie and Catherine Coudert were second-hand dealers in Nantes They had four sons, Jean-François, Pierre-Euge?ne, Pierre-Emile and Alphonse. They all became wine merchants. In 1880, the family returned to Meymac and bought a property in the village of La Mazière. Pierre-Eugène Borie, born June 6, 1862, was in 1883 a canvas merchant and farmer in the village of La Mazière. On January 9, 1886, he married Jeanne Démathieu, daughter of innkeepers from Meymac in the Prairie district. Around 1900, he built a house adjacent to the Démathieu inn. He became a wine merchant, and in partnership with his brother Pierre-Emile, he prospected in Normandy and Flanders. Around 1900, they set up a winery and warehouses in Pauillac, then in 1901, in partnership with the Manoux brothers from St Sulpice les Bois, bought Château Caronne Saint Jème in the Médoc.
