Antoine Madesclaire was born on January 17, 1885, the son of Jean Madesclaire and Françoise Courteix. His father, then a pit-sawyer in the village of Lascaux, became an important wine merchant in Maussac. On January 18, 1813, Antoine married Alice Faugeron de Chaveroche, and set off in his turn for the wine business. He built a house in Meymac Meymac in the ?La Co?te? district, before buying the neighboring Grandrieu cha?teau.
