Description

Benoit, known as Pierre Borie, was born on October 3, 1876, in Davignac, the son of Antoine Borie and Marie Benoit, farmers in the village of La Mongie. On July 2, 1903, he married Marie Beynel, a native of Ambrugeat. After working in Paris as a butler for a wealthy American, he was introduced to the wine trade by his brother-in-law, Pierre Simandoux. He traveled throughout the Nord, Pas-de-Calais, Normandy, and Belgium, where he built a modern house larger than the family home. This house is one of the single-story structures, more closely resembling local farmhouses in appearance. Discover Davignac’s other wine merchants’ houses on the “Houses in the Town” discovery tour.
