9. Maison Léonard Varièras, La Bachellerie

Léonard Variéras was born on November 22, 1872, in Davignac. His father, also named Léonard, was the first in the family to go into the wine business. And it was to Catherine Bordas, the daughter of another wine merchant, François Bordas from the village of Le Mas, that he married on August 12, 1897. As the son, son-in-law, and brother of wine merchants, it was only natural that he, too, would become a wine merchant. He had a house built in the lower part of the village of La Bachellerie in Davignac. Although it has no second story, it bears all the hallmarks of other bourgeois houses.
