Description
The Green Trail is a bike path built along a section of the right-of-way of the former railroad line connecting Aurillac to Paris. Reserved for pedestrians and cyclists, it is the perfect family outing. Starting from the Sardain parking lot in Bort-les-Orgues, it takes you through the Rhue Gorges, the town of Ydes—the birthplace of Lapeyre woodworking—and continues on to the Parensol Tunnel. A 72-km round trip with bike rentals available at the old Ydes train station during spring, summer, and fall breaks (reservations recommendedat 06 86 61 94 13).
Of course, you can turn back whenever you like. Please note that the Vendes-Jaleyrac section is a shared-use path and is not recommended for young, novice cyclists.
