Description
At the end of the 11th century, the Viscount of Comborn founded a Benedictine monastery. He had the abbey church built. Construction continued in the 12th and 13th centuries. The bell tower-porch houses a poly-lobed portal in the Limousin style. The porch is adorned with archaic Romanesque capitals. The nave is lined with wide arcades and ribbed vaults. On the side of the nave is a 12th-century black Madonna, typical of the Auvergne region. Free admission from 9am to 7pm. Guided tours by Tourisme de Haute-Corrèze on request all year round for groups.
