Description

Famously known as the "Tacot", the Transcorrézien ran in Haute-Corrèze for over fifty years, between 1912 and 1959. At the time, the 114 km journey took 8 hours and linked Ussel/Tulle. The Tacot passed through some fifteen small stations. Route Historique / Route du Transcorrézien. In the early 2000s, the Syndicat Intercommunal du Transcorrézien (now dissolved) undertook the restoration of some of these stations, treasures of the Corrèze heritage. Hiking trails have even been laid out along the route of the old steam train. To discover them today, simply follow the signs for the "Route du Transcorrézien". The Soursac-Lapleau Transcorrézien line was inaugurated with great fanfare on September 11, 1913, in the presence of President Poincaré, who inaugurated the Roches Noires Viaduct.
