Description

Located on a bend in the Doustre River, La Roche-Canillac consists of two districts: La Roche-Haute, on the edge of the plateau, and La Roche-Basse, built on the hillside 100 metres below. This ancient village, first mentioned in the 9th century, has preserved its remarkable heritage. The ‘courrijoux’, stone paths connecting the old terraced fields, offer a typical and bucolic walk. In the central square, the fountain and the Canillac Tower are reminders of the site's medieval past. The Saint-Maur church, listed as a Historic Monument, dominates the village. This charming village, nestled in the heart of Corrèze, captivates visitors with its authenticity, its landscapes, its tranquillity and its rich history.
