Description

Pierre Cloup, born in Ambrugeat on February 19, 1883, married Marie Gasparoux in 1920, the daughter of Jean Gasparoux, a prominent wine merchant in the village of Chavetourte near Davignac. Pierre first worked as a taxi driver in Paris before being “introduced to the world of wine” by his father-in-law. His clientele was based in the Nord, Pas-de-Calais, and Belgium. In addition to the house, “La Châtaigneraie,” which he built in Laval, he bought another one in Libourne, where he was registered as a resident. After Pierre’s death in 1939, Marie Gasparoux got her driver’s license and bought a Celta 4 to visit her husband’s clients until 1950. Discover the other wine merchants’ houses in Davignac with the “Houses in the Town” discovery tour.
