Description

Located at the western end of Corrèze, St-Julien-le-Vendômois borders Haute-Vienne and is close to the Dordogne. Bordered by the Auvézère and Boucheuse rivers, its average altitude is 358m. The parish took the name of St-Julien because it possessed relics of this saint, a martyr of the 3rd century. Inside the church is an altarpiece (18°S.), listed as a Historic Monument since 2014. To see : - the trammel: used for shoeing cattle and horses. Owned by the village's last blacksmith, it was donated to the commune by his descendant. - the cross: installed in the 1880s by missionaries, the cross is part of the daily life of the villagers. The statue of Christ, destroyed by the vagaries of the weather, was restored in 2019 by volunteers who brought together their different skills and contributed to its reconstruction in the same style as the cross
