Description
In Saint Léon sur Vézère, one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", Olivier makes jewellery and sculptures primarily from Siberian mammoth* ivory. They are creations or reproductions of prehistoric objects.
Nathalie welcomes you to their shop where they also select beautiful articles from local and French craftsmen (knives, leather goods, ceramics,...).
* Preserved in the frozen earth that is the permafrost and 10,000 to 100,000 years old, the summer melts deliver it to us along with bones and molars. The locals need a permit to collect it. At least 60 tons are found every summer in Siberia! If it is not collected in time, the ivory deteriorates and disappears.
The species Mammuthus Primigenius is not subject to any wildlife protection regulations.
