Vitrac is made up of three charming hamlets: le Port, le Bourg and Montfort. Vitrac Port watches over the current of the Dordogne and owes its success to this river, once through fishing and shipping, and nowadays through water sports. Recently the Port has been fitted out to allow yachtsmen to moor their canoe/boat during a trip down the river.
Contrary to appearances, the boundaries of Vitrac are not limited to the few houses surrounding the castle, now in ruins. Indeed the historical heart of the village is situated higher up in the village, where you can visit the small 12th century church. From Vitrac, on the road to Carsac, Montfort is a real entrance to the valley of the castles. At the cingle de Montfort, you will be able to admire a superb landscape where the glance embraces the Dordogne.
