Description

Issigeac, a circular village, developed in the 13th century at the same time as the neighbouring bastides. But the first human presence dates back to the 4th century during the Gallo-Roman period: baths, mosaics, hypocaust, which are no longer visible. To discover Issigeac is to discover its history thanks to its architecture; stone and half-timbered houses from the 13th to the 17th century which make the richness of this village. Several remarkable houses are included in the circuit: the Prévôté or Carthusian monastery, the Bishops' Palace, the tithe house, the head house, the mushroom house... and also the typical medieval alleys which will transport you to the past centuries.
