A gourmet getaway on the black diamond trails

A night of truffles, stories and starlight in the Quercy countryside

Between the Ségala and the Causses du Quercy, the Boris family farm opens its doors on summer evenings (June 15 – September 15) for an unforgettable experience: truffle hunting, a countryside walk, a farm-to-table feast and storytelling under the stars.

Welcome to the truffle farm

Just above Saint-Céré, on the road to Saint-Laurent-les-Tours, you’ll find a patchwork of meadows, woodland and stony terraces. This is where three generations of the Boris family have farmed with biodynamic methods, producing truffles, heirloom fruit, walnuts and vegetables in harmony with nature.

In summer, they share their world with visitors at their farm: La Ferme des Sentiers du Diamant Noir or the “Black Diamond Trails Farm.” The name says it all: here, the Périgord black truffle is king.

The evening begins

The evening starts in the farm courtyard, where Raymond and his son Patrick welcome you like old friends. The adventure kicks off with a small exhibition about mushrooms and truffles from prehistory to the present day and the traditional peasant life of the Saint-Céré region.

Then comes a generous farm aperitif: toast spread with truffle butter, fresh garden tomatoes, ratafia and homemade juices. Simple, hearty and just right to set the tone.

Hosts with the most

Guided by your hosts (and their truffle dog, Iroise, a sharp-nosed Beauceron), you’ll walk the old stone terraces where truffles still grow. Along the way, Raymond and Patrick share anecdotes, recipes and rural legends, proving themselves as much storytellers as farmers.

And then, a surprise: tables set around a 13th-century stone hut, facing the illuminated fortress of Saint-Laurent-les-Tours. Above you, a sky full of stars. Before you, a feast fit for kings.

Dinner under the stars

On the menu:

  • Colourful heirloom tomato salads
  • Venison or wild boar pâté
  • Meat grilled over vine shoots
  • Sarlat creamed potatoes
  • Stuffed farm vegetables (vegetarian options always available).

Everything is cooked by the family in cast-iron pots and served with local wines.

Foodie poetry

The perfect ending

After dinner, the walk back to the farm (by torchlight or headlamp) is another chance to share stories and soak up the night air.
Dessert
is a peach tart straight from the orchard often accompanied by a touch of poetry, leaving you with stars in your eyes and a genuine experience that will long linger in your heart.
