Pierre Fournial was born on February 9, 1885 in the village of Mascheny. He was a farmer before becoming a wine merchant in the Nord, Pas de Calais and Normandy regions. In 1909, he married Antoinette Simandoux, daughter and sister of wine merchants from the village of La Mongie in Davignac. In 1925, he built a house near the Jassonneix station in Meymac. His brother Le?onard, also a wine merchant, built a similar house on the opposite side of the station.
