1610: This is the date when the BARDE family tree began to flourish in the commune of Saint Méard de Gurçon. Since that time succeeding generations have formed the present inheritance.
Here in “Perigord Pourpre”, the BARDE family practice the art of wine-making over their 60 hectares of vineyards, divided up as follows:
-30 ha white wine varieties : Sauvignon, Semillon and Muscadelle.
-30 ha red wine varieties : Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Grown on wires that are staked in lines .
This ancient abode situated to the west of
Bergerac (30 km), though not a country seat,
it is however a landowners home dating from
the 17 th century. On the mansard roof sit two
splendid weathervanes marked with fleur-de-lis
and representing dolphins.
