Circuit de la reculée d'Autoire

46400 Autoire
We take you to discover an exceptional site dominated by high limestone cliffs, home to a "château des Anglais" and a beautiful waterfall..

The "reculée" is a type of relief specific to countries with limestone plateaus such as the Causses or the Jura massif. The reculée d'Autoire is a pronounced indentation in the limestone plateau of the Causse de Gramat. It ends in a narrow cirque of cliffs where a waterfall flows. The bottom of the reculée is the place of a singular geological phenomenon. The distension of the ground layers is at the origin of the formation of two parallel geological faults: the fault of Padirac and that of Siran.
