The church of BARS must have been founded between 1025 and 1120. The papal decree of Pope Calixtus II (dated 1120) addressed to Abbot Gui de Tourtoirac, confirms the possessions of the latter's abbey and mentions BARS as a priory that is part of many dependencies of this Benedictine abbey founded in 1025. In 1023, in the Privilege of Viscount Gui de Limoges (who endowed the abbey) there is no mention of BARS; we can therefore think that most of the churches not mentioned in this text were...
