The church is under the patronage of St-Martial, the first bishop of Limoges. Two capitals in the masonry of the bell tower date from the Romanesque period. Severely damaged during the Hundred Years' War, the church was restored in the 15th century. Following the discovery of 17th-century mural paintings in the choir, the large axial bay was reopened in 2008, changing the light aspect of the church.
The "Friends of the Church" association then had the bright idea of enlisting the help of Father Kim en Joong. This Korean-born Dominican, who creates stained-glass windows for spiritual centres the world over, agreed to restore the building's light.
The installation of 11 stained glass windows symbolizes the rebirth of the church. This space for meditation is sublimated by these stained-glass windows, from which emanate the power of colors and the softness of reflections.
