A few kilometres from Terrasson, on the edge of the woods and on the banks of the river, Hautegente Manor, whose buildings date from the 13th century, is, at first glance, a magical place, a little out of time.
It has belonged to the Hamelin family for more than 400 years and it was Edith who, in the 1980s, started to offer bed and breakfast accommodation for passing visitors.
Her son Patrick, and his wife Marie Josée, continue this tradition of hospitality in this serene setting.
This charming hotel has four stars and the cuisine is of high quality and very affordable.
