Lord Walton, a supporter of Cromwell, grants the hand of his daughter Elvira to Arturo Talbot, a supporter of the Stuarts, much to the chagrin of Sir Riccardo Forth, who was originally intended to marry her. Despite his love for Elvira, Talbot takes the risk of freeing Queen Henrietta, widow of the last king of the Stuart dynasty, who is being held prisoner in the fortress guarded by Lord Walton.
The Confluence des Arts et des Savoirs association is offering nine selections from the Metropolitan Opera as part of its HD-Live broadcasts for the 2025-2026 season, as well as an evening tribute to Maria Callas.
