The Jacques Chirac Museum houses the 5,000 diplomatic gifts presented to the President between 1995 and 2007. Jacques Chirac, in turn, became a donor by choosing to donate them to the Corrèze Departmental Council. 800 of these are on display in the main exhibition area.
In addition to this original purpose, there is now a desire to show visitors what made the man – indeed, the figure – of the President of the Fifth Republic. A transformation that began in 2023 with the reconstruction of the “Salon Doré”, the Presidents’ office at the Élysée Palace, and which continues today with “the Presidential Gallery”, where a number of personal items and 40 diplomatic gifts presented to the eight Presidents, from Charles de Gaulle to Emmanuel Macron, are on display.
There are always new temporary exhibitions to discover.
