There are artistic alliances whose obviousness is obvious to the eye - and sometimes also to the ear. Such is the case with kora master Ballaké Sissoko
and talented Anglo-Italian songwriter Piers Faccini. Having met at in the mid-2000s, via their joint record label at the time (Label Bleu), the two men - now united on the No Format label have known and liked each other for a long time. In 2020, Ballaké Sissoko invited Piers Faccini to sing a song in Bambara (“Kadidja”) for his collaborative album Djourou, released in 2021. Shortly afterwards, Piers Faccini composed another song for the two of them, “The Fire Inside”. The duo then decided to make a full-length album, released in early 2025. Since then, they have been enchanting the world's stages with their spellbinding musical interaction.
