For over 20 years, Olivier de Sagazan has been developing a hybrid practice
that integrates painting, photography, sculpture and performance to
create an existentialist work. His work attempts to make the body speak, to bring out
the precious side of life, and is based on philosophical,
literary and artistic foundations articulated by Artaud, Beckett and Bacon.
Transfiguration is the story of a failure. The inability of a painter-sculptor
to bring his work to life. In a desperate gesture, the painter sub
the clay paint to become a living sculpture. His body becomes
a canvas, and the painter a dancer.
In this performance, the artist builds himself up in successive layers of clay
another face, to transform, disfigure and dismantle his own figure.
