Created between 1692 and 1714, this altarpiece is the work of Jean Tournié, a master sculptor from Gourdon, in the Lot region of France. It was restored piece by piece by Karoutsos in 1988. The work took 3 years. Like most 17th-century altarpieces, it follows a compositional scheme borrowed from 16th-century Italian architecture: a three-part, 2-storey structure, topped by a triangular crown, with the side wings bordered by twisted columns adorned with pampers. Saint Martial is depicted alongside other figures such as Saint John the Baptist and Saint Peter. To the left of the middle section is a famous biblical scene: St. George slaying the dragon.
