Situated on a plateau with exceptional panoramic views over the surrounding countryside, the village owes its name to the arrival of the relics of Sainte-Fortunade in 894. In the center of the village, the medieval château is set in an attractive 19th-century park planted with trees. The old noble and middle-class houses of the ruelle du Barry-Bas cling to the foot of the château and its church, which houses the chief reliquary of Sainte-Fortunade, a listed historic monument.
